Women's Health Assist

Women take their health issues seriously, that’s why we have a female nurse available 24 hours a day to give advice on women’s health issues. From menstrual to migraine questions and anything else you might want clarity on.

All questions are answered in the strictest confidence and in a safe environment.

Pregnancy Assist

Typically pregnant women have a lot of unanswered questions about their new role as a mother. Our personal health advisor is available 24 hours a day to offer support to pregnant women who need support during this period.

The nurses are well equipped to give advice but will always assess the caller’s condition carefully and will refer her to a doctor when necessary.

Advice related to all aspects of the pregnancy is offered from caesarean sections to normal labour and even how to deal with premature births.

Baby Health Assist

Babies are a joy. They can also be a little overwhelming at times. When is a fever something to worry about? What’s the difference between colic and normal crying? What immunizations does your toddler need? Our personal health advisors can help you find the answers to these and other common parenting questions.

Parents and caretakers get the peace of mind that comes with knowing they have access to a professional assistance service that will deal with these queries 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

In case of a medical emergency the nurse is equipped and trained to evacuate an emergency response vehicle or refer the patient to the closest, most appropriate medical facility.

Teen Assist

The nurses also offer advice to teenagers and counsel them on physical, emotional and sexual questions they might have. The caller is spoken to in his/her home language and advice covers:

  • Drug related questions
  • Coping with studies
  • Peer pressure
  • Living with HIV/Aids

Abused or neglected children are also encouraged to phone the Teen line as the nurses are trained to address such issues in a sensitive manner.

Drug Database

The Personal Health Advisor has access to a complete drug database to assist you with information on a wide range of medication, the contra-indications, when it should be taken and whether there are any dietary specifications linked to the usage of the drug.

Poisoning

The Personal Health Advisor also uses a database of poisoning protocols for the nurses to assist you. The immediate and long-term needs are addressed and an ambulance will be dispatched if the patient is critical and in need of immediate medical care.
