Why insure my Portable Possessions?

Think about what you take with you as you’re leaving the house in the morning- your laptop, your handbag, your glasses. It doesn’t seem like much, but when you consider the value of all of those things combined and how much it would cost you in terms of money and time to replace, it can make you never want to leave the house with anything more valuable than a Pez dispenser on you in future.

But don’t stash away the Louis Vuitton just yet, the 1st for Women team offer a Portable Possessions Insurance product to protect all the things you just can’t leave home without. We’ve even developed specific policies for commonly insured items which make daily commute with you.

What can I insure with a Portable Possessions Insurance Policy?

The Portable Possessions Insurance policy will cover you for the loss of or damage to your jewellery, clothing and the personal items that you and your family members who live with you normally wear or carry with you. If any one item is worth more than the amount stated on your schedule, it must be specified.

Item specific Portable Possession Insurance policies include:

  • Jewellery Insurance
    • They might not be the crown jewels, but if they’re worth anything, they’re worth insuring.
  • Laptop Insurance
    • Sadly, we can’t compensate you for the work- or the pictures of your neighbour’s kitten, but we will cover your laptop.
  • Camera Insurance
    • They say a picture is worth a thousand words- but cameras can be worth thousands of Rands. Cover your camera with a camera insurance policy.
  • Handbag Insurance
    • Because just the idea of someone laying their eyes on your handbag is bad enough!
  • Clothing Insurance
    • Clothes make the man, or more accurately, the woman. Protect your threads with clothing insurance
  • Glasses Insurance
    • Protect the window panes to the soul from damage, loss and theft.
  • Cell Phone Insurance
    • Protect your mobile social life organiser, camera and office with cell phone insurance.
