Whether you enjoy the exhilaration of taking your speedboat for a spin or enjoy the relaxing feeling of taking your own yacht out onto the water, Boat Insurance through 1st For Women will protect your vessel in the event that your boat gets accidentally damaged or stolen.

Boat Insurance provides comprehensive cover for your craft when in the waters of, or when transported through South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique and Namibia.

What will I be covered for with Boat Insurance?:

Your Boat Insurance policy will cover you for the following:

  • Cover for your boat, its machinery and motor(s), standard fittings, gear, equipment and fitted accessories.
  • Cover for the cost of finding your boat should it become stranded, sink or be in a collision.
  • Cover the cost of salvaging and delivering your boat to the nearest border post, if necessary.
  • Cover in the event of an accident that leads to the damage of another party, or in the event of an accident that leads to the death or injury of a third party.

Are Medical Costs Covered with Boat Insurance?:

You can enjoy up to R2 000 medical costs cover per incident with your Boat Insurance policy in the event of your craft being in an accident or sinking.

Will Waterskier liability be covered with Boat Insurance?:

Yes, but only if your schedule states that you are paying for cover. Be sure to state that you wish for this cover when requesting a quote or speaking to one of our consultants.

Is my Boat Trailer Insured along with my Boat Insurance?:

Unfortunately not, your trailer counts as a separate vehicle and so needs to be insured separately with a Trailer Insurance policy. Your boat is also not insured for any damage that it incurs while being transported by road, your Boat Insurance policy will only be in effect when the insured craft is in the designated waters and is being operated by the regular, approved driver or by another capable operator with the regular driver’s permission.

For the other exclusions that influence your Boat Insurance policy, be sure to read your policy book thoroughly or speak to a 1st for Women Insurance Brokers consultant.
